Farewell to Exeter College

Today has been wonderful so far. I went to tea with some of the WiE women at the Mitre (which also took care of some C.S. Lewis homework. Speaking of C.S. Lewis, we saw a man there that looked very much like him, only he wore a neon green polo shirt.) Afterwards we walked down Turrel Street toward Blackwell's only to find that Exeter College was open to the public till 5pm. We walked around the quadrangle and sort of saw the Pre-Raphaelite Tapestry (there was a baroque rehersal going on) in the chapel. In the chapel there is a bust of Tolkien that was done by his daughter-in-law, Faith Tolkien. We also joined a tour group quickly to see the Fellow's Garden (lovely!) with its view of the medieaval library and old divinity school lecture hall (feartured in Harry Potter 1, 2,& 3). Afterwards we asked the porter (a very kind gentleman) if we could go see the locked William Morris Room with the lovely Tapistries. He let us in (this was especially grand for Laura T--) and let us stay for the 5min till closing time. We then wandered back to St. Anne's for all of Oxford shuts down at 5pm. And now I am going to read a book and not think about homework at all.

Oh and I now know where Tolkien got his ideas for doorway art.
